WCET Standing Committees
A number of strategic committees have been established to ensure that the WCET is able to provide a high standard of service to its members and stakeholders.
WCET Education Committee (established 1978)
The original Education Committee mandate was to ensure a world wide standard of education across Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Programs (ETNEPs). In 1990 guidelines were developed by the Education Committee to standardise Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Programs (ETNEPs) to assure a uniform delivery of knowledge as well as the development of the students' abilities and attitudes. ETNEP Directors are invited to submit their program for WCET recognition. The WCET recognised programs are reviewed every two to four years. By 2009 there were 40 WCET recognised ETNEPs.
Over the years many WCET members have travelled to other countries to carry out on-site training or to facilitate the development of new ETNEPs. In recent years, it became apparent that ETNEPS were not all at the same educational level. The educational programs of some countries addressed only one part of the three-specialty field of Enterostomal Therapy Nursing practice while others were more comprehensive and included stoma, wound and continence care and were completed with a preceptorship.
In 2006, the WCET Education Committee developed guidelines for Recognised Educational Programs (REPs) in either ostomy, or ostomy and wound, or ostomy and continence care. These programs are in addition to the more traditionally recognised ETNEPs.
Norma N Gill Foundation (NNGF) Committee (established 1980)
The Norma N Gill Foundation (NNGF) was formally inaugurated in 1980 at the WCET Congress in Cleveland, USA to honor Norma N Gill, the founder of the WCET. In 1996, as a result of years of work by various Executive Board members, the WCET was awarded charitable status in the UK.
The mission of the NNGF is to raise funds for nursing scholarships to further Enterostomal Therapy Nursing education throughout the world and help establish stoma care where services are non-existent. Members are encouraged to apply for NNGF scholarships. The NNGF has since inaugurated the Twinning Project whereby volunteers from a developed country assist and support an emerging country to create or expand Enterostomal Therapy Nursing services in that country through a variey of projects.

WCET Publications and Communications Committee (established 1978)
The WCET Publications Committee was created to oversee WCET publications and communications. It is responsible for developing promotional brochures, pamphlets, posters, all other printed WCET communications, except the WCET Journal. The committee is also responsible for publishing the national country reports on the database. With the increased use of modern communication technology, the committee has assumed the additional role of website management and updating.
WCET Constitution Committee (established 1978)
The WCET Constitution Committee was originally responsible for the development of the initial WCET constitution. The committee communicates to the membership any development currently or potentially effecting the organisation which requires consideration for constitutional change.Currently the committee functions to monitor matters of organisational governance.

WCET Editorial Advisory Board
The Editorial Advisory Board is responsible for article sourcing, editing and overall management of the WCET Journal. It is also responsible for the acquisition and scrutiny of Journal submissions as well as the translation of such articles. The Editorial Advisory Board oversees the insertion of industry supplements.
WCET Congress Liaison Position
A Congress Liaison is assigned for each WCET Biennial Congress to act as a link between the Executive Board and the Congress Planning Committee. This may be a member of the Executive Board or an active general member of the WCET with meeting planning skills. The Congress Liaison serves as a resource to the Congress Organising Committee and assures that the established WCET policies and guidelines for congress are followed. The role of the Congress Liaison also includes making site visits for the proposed Congress, collaborating with the Industry Exhibit Liaison and coordinating the schedule of the WCET Executive Board and committee meetings.
